Serena would tell you there are three kinds of Fey. Elemental Fey, Spirits of the four elements who each wield a different power over mortal lives. Sidhe, an ancient race of human — like Fey who resemble the elves of mortal myth. And the Faeries, a catchall class of beings coming in more shapes and sizes than she cares to understand — much less remember.
But that world, which corresponds closely to the myths I grew up with, is gone. When Morían stopped the flow of magic between the realms, most Fey believe their ancient home, the Otherworld, was destroyed. And those trapped on Earth are dying.
The Fey world of Serena’s Fall is a dark place, a hidden world inside our own, where Fey fight to survive the lack of magic while Morían plots her return. In this world, the glory days of the Fey are memories. Serena was born on earth. And she has the same issues with friends and boys and life any teenager, human or Fey, struggles with.
Like all of us, Serena wants to make her own place in a world more thorns than roses.
I am author MK Smith, and I want to welcome you to my blog. Once or twice a week, more if the muse strikes me—or doesn’t strike me as I should be writing the sequel not blogging, I will be posting about who the Fey are in my world, the inspiration that motivated the work, and the writer questions about how I got it written. I appreciate the time you spend with me dreaming about other worlds.
